By train: Alcalà de Xivert station
The nearest railway station is Alcalà de Xivert, about 8 km from Alcossebre, on the Renfe Mediterranean-corridor line (Valencia–Castellón–Vinaròs, with connections towards Barcelona and Tortosa).
From the station you can reach Alcossebre by taxi or on the Alcalà–Alcossebre urban bus, whose timetable is coordinated with the trains (the service was expanded to 6 daily runs). Check current times at alcaladexivert.es or alcossebre.org.
For long-distance trains (Euromed/AVE), the reference stations are Castelló de la Plana to the south and Benicarló-Peñíscola to the north, with a regional connection to Alcalà de Xivert.
By bus
Autos Mediterráneo runs the coastal line linking Castellón – Benicàssim – Oropesa – Torreblanca – Alcossebre. For long-distance routes from other cities (Madrid, Zaragoza, Barcelona…), the Avanza group sells tickets to the area.
Timetables change by season: always check the operators’ official sites or alcossebre.org (transport schedules section).
By plane: three airports
- Castellón Airport (CDT): the closest, about 24 km away. By taxi, the published indicative fare is €30–35. There is no direct bus: the alternative is bus/taxi to Castellón and the coastal line from there.
- Valencia Airport (VLC): ~130 km; the widest choice of flights. About 1 h 15 min by hire car on the AP-7.
- Reus Airport (REU): ~120 km north, handy if you come via southern Catalonia.
The last stretch: from the CV-142 to your accommodation
The CV-142 enters Alcossebre as the main avenue. For the centre and Cargador beach keep straight towards the sea; for Las Fuentes and the marina, head north when you reach the coast; for Playa Romana, turn south. Arriving in high season?
